Proud to support people and planet right here in New Zealand
We recently celebrated 100 years of Weleda and as we embark on our next century we wanted to continue the work of our founders who were following a new path for a better future. Their bold vision, to connect people with nature is at the core of our brand.
At Weleda, we dare to care. Our heart beats for the health and care of people that is why we regularly donate a percentage of sales to charitable organisatons.
Together we can achieve a lot so thank you for your support.
We’ve been involved in a number of national community initiatives and charitable organisations, that are close to our purpose and values.
As always, at Weleda our focus starts with People.
Garden to Table
Weleda New Zealand, as part of our global ‘Save Earth’s Skin’ mission, collaborated with the New Zealand charitable organisation, Garden to Table, to help empower tamariki to grow, harvest, prepare, and share great food.
The outcome was an amazing 52-page in-depth, engaging curriculum resource, to educate our future generations on the power and benefit of healthy, biodiverse soils and help prevent soil degradation across Aotearoa.
Packed full of scientific observations and experiments, this resource has won the hearts and minds of teachers and students in participating schools and has provided engaging soil activities for tamariki to take their learning further, into their homes and community gardens, and ideally, into their adult lives.
Launched into participating Garden to Table schools in April 2023, the feedback from teachers has blown us away:
“Room 6 has been very busy embarking on scientific analysis of soil. We discovered it is classified as Ultic soil, a mix of mainly clay with sandy lower layers. We learnt soil is 45% weathered rocks/minerals, 20-30% water, 20% air and approx. 10% decayed matter. We found worms and bugs in the soil and finished up by making soil 'sausages'! We are learning how important healthy soils are to our planet. This has provided amazing opportunities for our tamariki!” Tomarata School.

KidsCan
Since 2020, we have donated over $39,000 to KidsCan, who provide food, clothes and health products to needy children in schools, to help them more actively participate in learning and give them a better future.
Our founder, Rudolf Steiner, was an avid supporter of children, especially their education, and social reform, so helping these two organisations is a great way for us to contribute to our New Zealand community.
Hohepa
We like to support local where possible, so it was a no-brainer to order the milk for our staff coffees / teas from Hohepa - a centre in Clive supporting those with disabilities, that produces organic cheeses, biodynamic milk, organic vegetables, candles, weaving and wooden products.
We also wanted to widen support for Nature across New Zealand.
Trees That Count
Sadly, more than 4,000 native plants and animals are threatened or at risk of extinction and in need of our protection. Our unique native trees such as the kōwhai, pōhutukawa, kauri and tī kōuka (cabbage tree) are something we’re all proud of and are embedded in our identity as New Zealanders. By helping plant more of our iconic native species, we want to help protect our unique flora and fauna for the future.
Since 2021, we have donated over $20,000 to native tree planting organization, Trees That Count, enabling them to plant over 2,266 native trees in various projects around the country.
Join Weleda's Mission to Save Earth's Skin
Treat soil, the skin of the Earth, as you would your own skin.
We have embarked on a journey to educate about the importance of healthy soil. Here in New Zealand we are working to educate children and adults on how we can all care better for the soil in Aotearoa. We see soil protection as a common task!
